Topic: Designing Hot Water Systems Around Demand: Centralised, Decentralised and Point of Use Applications

Daniel will be sharing where different hot water approaches make sense across commercial and multi-res applications, including distribution losses, low use fixtures, electrical considerations, storage vs instantaneous and where point of use systems can be a practical design option.

Topic: Every kPa Counts: Managing Pressure Loss Through Backflow Prevention Valves

As population growth and development place increasing demands on water infrastructure, achieving the required flow while working with limited pressure at the boundary remains a challenge for the industry. This presentation will explore how backflow prevention valves contribute to pressure loss, why their performance at the required flow rate matters, and how informed valve selection can help preserve available pressure while maintaining backflow protection. The focus will be on practical considerations and real-world applications to help designers and installers balance water safety, flow requirements and system performance.
