AS1851-2012 now mandatory in NSW

From 13 February 2026

For those who do fire work in NSW, today, Friday the 13th February 2026, AS 1851-2012 – Routine Service of fire protection systems and equipment was made mandatory under the Environmental Planning and Assessment (Development Certification and Fire Safety) Regulation 2021.

All class 1b and class 2 to class 9 buildings in NSW must now have essential fire safety measures inspected and tested in accordance with AS 1851-2012.
